Luke Stephens is a native Philadelphian. He earned his MFA in creative writing from the University of New Orleans, where he worked as the editor of Bayou literary journal.

Previously, he graduated from the Riggio Writing Program at the New School in New York City, where he served as the nonfiction editor of 12th Street literary journal.

While in New York, he worked as a tour guide, giving a six-hour historical walking tour of Manhattan, from Wall Street to Rockefeller Center. He also worked for a theater production company that mounted several Broadway plays including Peter and the Starcatcher, a prequel to the Peter Pan stories.

He currently works for the New Orleans Public Library as a young adult librarian.
